AJJ Vice President Cynthia Nowicki Hnatiuk participated in the New Jersey American Academy of Nursing (AAN) Fellows meeting held at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in Princeton, NJ on December 16. The meeting was chaired by Susan Rienhard and Susan Hassmiller, and attended by over 30 fellows. Dr. Hnatiuk was inducted as a Fellow of the AAN in October.

The fellows meet annually to discuss the issues and programs impacting the state and future of professional nursing in New Jersey. Agenda items included the New Jersey Nursing Initiative, Action Coalitions (progress of the Pillars of education, practice, workforce data, and leadership), and accountable care act issues. Diana Mason, AAN President, joined the meeting virtually to provide an update on the AAN strategic plan.

The meeting concluded with a discussion of the ways the fellows could work as a group to influence nursing practice issues in the state.
